i was really looking forward to these, unfortunately they suck .

ill be the first to admit that i don't fully understand these computer trends, but to my knowledge ATI/AMD have been getting raped for a good year by nvidia/intel

although i must add that the HD3850 is probably the best cost/performance video card on the market at about 180 dollars (same price as 8600GTS, but twice as good)

also, to my knowledge, most amd CPU's under 100 dolllars will outperform their INTEL counterparts, so i guess amd still does have the midline to low demographic....


what do some of you more knowledgeable nerds have to say?

I'm not sure what your question is. a budget box is AMD all the way, but Intel smokes the shit out of AMD these days in performance AND they use much less power.
The Core 2 Duo E6600 is the best buy imo, it will overclock to 3GHZ with stock cooling and it's just plain fast out of the box.

I wont buy any ATI cards until they get the driver issues fixed with Linux, they are getting better but ffs, they have shit drivers for windows so I'm not looking for any good support with Linux.
