It doesn't really do anything for us in particular. For other forums (like say a tech support forum) where you have a ton of users it's beneficial because people can accumulate a good reputation (by posting good information) and their user title can reflect their reputation, like "this Fellow knows wat he's talkin 'bout"
Here, it's more useless because none of us have any use.
