alright, if i am not on skype, msg me on aim or on here.
k. ill have to make sure my mic and shit is working. i dont remember if i set it all up last time or not. ill be home later tonight some time. ill hit you with a msg on skype or something to see whats up.
OR YOU COULD GET INTO THE IRC CHAT!!
dunno what happened but im the only one in there right now
i would get it in, but i am on my dad's laptop and my computer is on linux right now live booting.
I could just ask you here so I can continue.
It is asking me where I want to install it.
I have 3 hard drives
Vista, Storage, XP, then a Partition on the XP for linux that is 10gb big.
Should I choose the one that says something about pick the largest continuos partition or something like that?
hds are listed like so:
first hd: hda (sda if they are sata)
second hd: hdb (sdb)
etc etc
now partions are like so:
first partition on first hd. hda1(sda1)
second partition on first hd. hda2 (sda2)
first partition on second hd. hdb1(sdb1)
etc etc.
so its up to you figure out which hd you put the partition on. you should be able browse and look at the different hard drives you can install it on. just look for the 10gb partition and select that. its been a little while since i installed and i have it on its own hd so i just chose my sda drive. but i imagine that partitions show up the same way the hd's do.
I will just tell you what the installer says
Select a Disk
You can have the installer automatically create space in various ways on any one of the following hard disks. Alternatively, you can partition the disks manually.
Choice 1: /dev/hda: IDE1 master (hda) - 80.0 GB
^^^^ That is my vista, which is a no no
Choice 2: /dev/hdb:IDE1 slave (hdb) - 122.9GB
^^^^ My storage, which is a no no as well lol
Choice 3: /dev/hdd:IDE2 slave (hdd) - 40gb
^^^My XP
How come it doesn't show my partition I already created on the 40gb hard drive?
Choice 4: Use the largest continuous free space.
Choice 5: Manually edit partition table.
^^ I was trying to do that one before, and I had the thing partitioned. It said Linux needed atleast 2gb for root and another partition for swap that is atleast 256MB big.
So I created another partition as well for swap that was 512mb big, and had like 9. something for root.
Then it asked where I wanted to mount things.
Got confusing and quit.
Now I am here, confused and lost lol.
sorry i got busy reading something else and forgot about you pal
going through the partition editor was the correct way but what was it asking to mount?
as long as you backed up your important data(porn) then you should have nothing to worry about.
