using an old emachine,
only thing different from the specs are that I have a 1 gig along with an old Radeon™ X800 PRO
looking to keep the hard drive, Media Reader, cd player. dvd driver is broken, will need to be replaced
I'm thinking of going with this
CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X4096-6400C5 - Reta

and AMD Athlon II X2 240 Regor 2.8GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor - Retail

I just need some help with the best option for a motherboard and a decent gaming card, like a $100 one or so
I only want to be able to do my school work without my damn pc crashing all the time due to programs being open.
I will be upgrading to windows 7 as well. since it will only cost $30 for students
please feel free to make my list any better or better suggestions. I'm pretty lame when it comes to upgrading.

If you want to increase your graphics card for a bit more money , but not severely i would suggest
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150441
that is if the motherboard you chose also supports ati chipsets (i didnt read it)
or you could knock the ball out of the park for a bit and get one of theses
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143189
and that would keep you running well for a while.
I have a 260GTX and i have to say its pretty awesome.
Also find a video card with an exhaust that pushes air out.
Shut the fuck up.
